Celebrating our Fabulous 50 Nurses
TMC proudly recognizes five of its own among Tucson’s Fab 50 nurses – and the Most Inspirational Mentor of the Year, all designated by the Tucson Nurses Week Foundation.
The week of May 1 – 5, in honor of Nurses Week, we will be featuring one of our five Fabulous 50 Nurses each day.
The Tucson Nurses Week Foundation celebrates each year with city-wide activities honoring the community’s dedicated nursing professionals. The event kicks off with the annual Showcase of Tucson Nurses education conference and Healthy Fair on Friday, May 5. Then on Saturday evening, May 6, the community gathers for the Fab 50 Nurses Gala. All events will be held this year at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, 7000 N. Resort Dr.
A childhood goal
Stephanie Donovan knew she wanted to be a nurse at 14. “I loved science and I honestly really just wanted to do something that would allow me to help others.”
After high school, she earned her bachelors of science in nursing at the University of Arizona and within that first year, she was already teaching a course for certified nursing assistants.
“I found that I have a love of nursing and teaching, which drove me to complete my master’s degree in nursing with a focus on education,” Stephanie said.
Working at the bedside as a critical care nurse at Tucson Medical Center, Stephanie is able to fulfill her childhood dream by caring for some of our most vulnerable patients.
Teaching the advanced medical/surgical clinical rotation for Northern Arizona University in Tucson allows her to play a part in preparing the next generation of dreamers for their future.
“I am so grateful for the love and guidance that I received from my parents and the support that my husband gives me,” Stephanie said. “They allow me to reach for my dreams.”
